Buxton was a home to a small tribe of Local Native Americans called Croatans. The history suggests that that is where the original Lost Colony fled to. Buxton is an excellent fishing spot off Cape Point. It also offers excellent surfing, kiteboarding and windsurfing at Canadian Hole or incredible views from Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.
